As part of our ongoing commitment to bolstering cybersecurity measures across campus, we are excited to inform you about the upcoming deployment of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint security software.

At its core, Microsoft Defender is an Anti-Virus software with the ability to automatically detect and respond to malware, ransomware, and other cybersecurity threats. This proactive step, combined with our existing security tools, will enhance our ability to safeguard sensitive data, mitigate risks, and ensure the integrity of our network infrastructure.

Some MacOS users may encounter this prompt appearing on their screen after the application is installed on their computer. Accepting this prompt will allow Microsoft Defender to protect your computer after it has been installed.

What if my computer is turned off or I’m out of the office during the scheduled install and how can I get help?
If your computer is offline during the scheduled install, it will initiate once it’s turned back on and connects to º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½â€™s network. This includes on-campus Wi-Fi, wired, or the º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ VPN.

Our team is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and providing the necessary support and resources to facilitate the deployment process. ITS staff members will be on hand in the building to assist with installation, and will troubleshoot any issues that may arise.

Thank you for your cooperation and support. Together, we can create a more digitally secure environment for teaching, learning, and research endeavors.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments please do not hesitate to contact the ITS service desk at ITShelp@colgate.edu or 315-228-7111.
