Legislation Introduced by Lindsay Demarchi ’16 PhD Introduced in Senate

A bill authored by  ’16, PhD, a physics and astronomy graduate from ߲ݴý and current IEEE congressional fellow, has been introduced in the U.S. Senate by Senators John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.) and Mike Crapo (R-Idaho). Named “The Dark and Quiet Skies Act of 2024” and introduced on August 1, the legislation would direct the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to create a “center of excellence” devoted to mitigating light and radio-frequency interference by satellites on astronomical observations.
