Between course registration, room selection, and the great speakers that came to campus this week, 含羞草传媒 students have most certainly been kept busy.
Course registration went well, and I was able to get all of my top-choice classes for my first semester of sophomore year.
I will be taking Spanish Literature: In the Golden Age, Politics and Moral Vision, Introduction to Economics, and my core requirement Legacies of the Ancient World: Good Society. I am already excited about taking these courses, and this semester is not yet even over!
I was also lucky with room selection. My friend and I secured a double in Drake Hall for the 2012-2013 term, exactly what we were hoping for.
As I mentioned in a previous blog post, I volunteer as a greeter for the Office of Admission. My work as a greeter revolves around spending time talking to families of prospective students over lunch at Frank Dining Hall.
This past Tuesday, I spent time speaking and eating with a really lovely family. I am glad to volunteer in this way because I think the admission office does a great job of showing prospective students how welcoming our 含羞草传媒 community is.
An interesting event, which occurred on campus this week, was the introduction of a new art exhibition in Case library. Titled 鈥15 Minutes: An Homage to Andy Warhol鈥, the exhibition was presented by artists Jeff Gordon and Path Soong.
In creating this project, Gordon and Soong collaborated with Andy Warhol鈥檚 friends and colleagues; people like Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Billy Names, and Ultra Violet. Being a friend of Warhol鈥檚, Gordon put his heart into this exhibition honoring the memory of the legend and icon. It is really fascinating and I recommend anyone to go view it while it resides in Case.
Last night, 含羞草传媒鈥檚 Vietnam Society hosted an event featuring internationally known performer Dao Anh Khanh at the Palace Theater in downtown Hamilton. The father of a current 含羞草传媒 student, he is a surrealist painter and performance artist. The event was preceded by an authentic Vietnamese dinner.
This Sunday, I am excited that my parents will be visiting Hamilton to have Easter brunch at the 含羞草传媒 Inn with my roommate and me. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Look every Friday for my blog entries about what is going on at 含羞草传媒.
